Made Me Holla–Literally!

Filed under: General, Relationships, Community, Good Conversation - The Hostess

Yesterday, there I was minding my business–once again–then BAM. I get an e-mail from my girl. The short of it was that she’d eloped. Hey hun, if you’re reading this, congrats again! After reading it the first time, I was like, “Naw. She’s just kidding. They must have gotten engaged.” Because I already had made up in my mind that they’d marry. I don’t really know him like that. But there was something in the way she spoke about him the last time I saw her. I read and re-read and read again, then let out a holla!!! It was all true. Our numbers are growing quickly because another of the posse’s pregnant with twins. The whole thing got me to thinking. I’ve been known to say, “The minute the stick turns blue, there are only two places to go. The court house or the clinic.” Never put too-too much thought behind it as I’ve gotten older. I just assumed that because I said that, IF I ever found myself in that position, the decision would be cut and dry. (more…)

Fat Signs

Filed under: General, Good Conversation - The Hostess

I’ll first admit to having searched my entire blog roll for inspiration. I’m gonna need you people to step up your writing game. Lest I be forced to seach the local papers for inspiration. I really have nothing people. Nothing to write about.

Yesterday SonnyRedd asked about the fat chick take-over in DC. I haven’t fleshed out my theory on this. But I’ll share it as it stands. For whatever reason, Black chicks usually think they are flyy. Doesn’t matter the size. Doesn’t matter that larger people are at greater risk for having poor health. No. So long as they can walk into any bigger girl’s store and walk out with a bag of in-style stuff, they’re cool. And you know what? Men are still talking to them. Be it because the men assume bigger women will let them get away with more or because they like the felling of having their fingers slip in between fat rolls. Some men like guts. I have done the research. But not really. (more…)

I Look Good In Leather

Filed under: General, Relationships, Community, Good Conversation - The Hostess

Y’all know what I need in my life? I NEED XBOX!!! I don’t know how I’ve been missing out of the joy that is video game playing. Dammit if I didn’t get my table tennis play on last night! Right now, as I type, I’m seriously contemplating stopping by some store after work and purchasing my very own XBox!! I think before, I was put off by video games because they always seemed so complicated. Most of the time I saw anyone play, they were playing football or basketball. Truth be told, I don’t completely understand real football so you can see how I’d be overwhelmed by it in video game form. (more…)

Googled Myself Green

Filed under: General - The Hostess

Lemme first follow up what I wrote yesterday. I watched the finale of the show. Jo and Slade did break up. She moved out. He started dating another of the chicks from the community–Lauri, the divorced chick who attracts losers. Then two weeks later, Slade and her ended and he got back with Jo…Oh and gave her back the Benz he’d bought her.

Everyone knows I watch people and make up stories. Sometimes I see couples and think, “They really like each other. I mean not just for sex or anything temporary.” Other times, when it’s someone I know, (i.e. O and his XXXXXX) I see a pic and think on a more personal note, “He’s in complete bliss. How exactly is it possible that Mr. Brightside could be any brighter?” I especially like to see older couples like this. Too cute. Makes me wonder how they got that way. I’ve only been in two relationships where on-lookers looked at us and said it just looked like we felt right about each other. But since I’m with neither dude, I guess we can’t put too much stock in what things look like. (more…)

How Do You Spell Success??

Filed under: Community - The Hostess

I probably won’t be writing anything today. Yesterday, we sorta solved our immigration problems in the comments section. Don’t believe, take a look.

Were the immigrants successful in your town?? Did their not going to work affect you? I know for me, I was able to get to and from work a whole lot quicker. Also, what do you think success and failure would look like for the illegals? Short-term and long-term?? For citizens, what would success or failure of illegals mean to us? Did yesterday show us that, if left unchecked, the illegals will think they really have power in this country?

I’ll Trade Ya…

Filed under: Community, The Me Files, Good Conversation - The Hostess

If this guy can trade his One Red Paper Clip for a house, I damn sure can trade something I have for a book deal. As a matter of fact, I’d be pleased if I could just find someone to compile the best of my entries into some logical order and edit them for spelling. So what could I trade. Hmh. (more…)
