Hey! since y’all aren’t really working, take a moment and go HERE. Then click on the “Vote” and vote for Connally Cadets in Texas so they can win $5000 in Adidas gear for the Basketball program.

What happened yesterday?? That there was a one time thing. People were poking eachother’s shoulders and sometimes, you step out the way, frisk them for weapons, then let em duke it out. But we aren’t going to make all that madness a regular thing up in through here.

We good?? Good. (more…)

Men Don’t Like Bangs

Filed under: Relationships, Good Conversation - The Hostess

More important announcement than the one below: Goldie is coming to town and she is forcing me to go out on Thursday and Friday in DC. I have no idea where to take her. Please offer suggestions. Remember, we’re old. I require people over 30 who have something to lose, low music so I can hear myself think, comfortable seating, and attentive bartenders.

Announcement: This is my last relationshippy post for this week and maybe next. I’m really getting bored with this but y’all just seem so passionate about it, and so willing to answer my questions. Oh, plus I didn’t want to tax my brian tryna think of a way to make my outrage about all things inside the beltway interesting.

It’s official. Men do not like bangs. I’ve done the research on this and came to the conclusion that something about bangs puts men off. You may disagree, but have YOU don’t the research? Oh, OK. I thought not.

Y’all were offering up some decent comments yesterday even though it got a bit sketchy at the end. Because I don’t have anything to talk about today, I’ll draw from something that came up over and over yesterday. Plus I think most folks aren’t at work anyway. It seemed that one of the concerns when living together is that the marriage may not ever come. And that engagement doesn’t equal marriage. I fully, whole-heartedly agree. Aint’ no definates when you’re dealing with another person. (more…)

Checking the Mail

ED. NOTE ADDED BELOW.

Friday, thanks for keeping it civilized. Instead of just spanking hands over bad behavior (deleting comments), it works better to encourage good behavior.

***For those of you in the Philly area, may I suggest you get all of your desserts from http://www.brownbettydesserts.com/. The owners are a Black chick and her mom. The daughter is a close personal friend of one of my friends. I’ve had their cakes and you should too. No dis to Cake Love, but Brown Betty is not nearly as, uh, bland.***

The whole shacking thing came up more than a few times on Friday. I decided to just talk about this again. Look y’all, I do what I do. You can do what you wanna do. But the Hostess doesn’t shack–but reserves the right to re-evaluate this under the proper circumstances so long as the money is donw on the reception venue :-) . (more…)

‘Guest Room’ Yellow Walls

Filed under: Relationships, Good Conversation - The Hostess

First, lemme shout out the Ques. Nevermind that I’m a Kappa magnet, it wouldn’t be proper if I didn’t start out by wishing the Ques a happy founder’s day.

Second, the post…Earlier this week, Monica got some folks up in arms with her list of things grown ass men should know to do/are supposed to do. Far too often I think people see lists of expectations and they forget that if they are expected to DO, they are going to receive in return. BUT, I wish I could say every woman was on the same page about her girlfriend/wife duties. And lemme tell you, girlfriend and wife duties are NOT one in the same. Some things cross over but, IMO, being the wife has way more duties. It should come naturally, but it still seems to be like the corner office–folks want it because of it’s big powerful desk and breath-taking views. But those same people hardly ever think about the responsibility that goes into having that office. That’s a post for another day. (more…)
