Conversations With Her Me

Filed under: The Me Files, Good Conversation - The Hostess

Big shouts to our very own blogger Tra who participated in what appears to be the 17 part caucus process in Texas!

Interesting Article

Man I tell you. This weekend went by sooo fast. I got a lot of stuff done. I was able to get a dress I needed. Praise be to Ann Taylor cus she always helps me out in a pinch. Whew. Now that the weekend is over, I can reflect on some revelations I had. I could be a Stepford Wife. Yep. So easily. I could wear those dresses and pearls everyday! I could clean in heels! I could bake cupcakes from scratch every Wednesday. I could send my husband off to work in the city everyday. I could volunteer. I could pull all the strings from behind like the chick in the newest Stepford Wives movie! I could get up everyday with my only goals being husband/kid/housekeeping. And I’m OK with that. (more…)

Societal Issues Friday Topic: Child Support

Filed under: Relationships, Community, Good Conversation - The Hostess

I didn’t see Tyler Perry’s new movie. It makes me giggle to know Monica and Sissy spent real money and went. LOL Not only did they go, so did NikiLoveli. According to Nikiloveli, there was a scene where a man said he wanted to see receipts for his child support. I take that to mean he wanted to see what his child(ren)’s mother is spending the money on. My thoughts? I’m glad you asked. (more…)

Guess Blogger: Ted

Filed under: Guest Blogger, Good Conversation - The Hostess

Remember when I used to have others write?? I’m starting it again. Please kindly welcome Ted. And here’s his entry.

I once met a girl who was really into motorcycles. She owned two, raced them a few times a year, and spent some of her Saturday’s at a friend’s garage working on them. I was shocked when I heard this because I’d always pictured biker girls as skanky White women with a cigarette dangling from their mouths or just flat-out butch. This chick was nothing of the sort… she was petite with gorgeous skin, hair, and eyes who dressed in some of the sexiness corporate wear I’ve ever seen. On our first date, she met me at a restaurant in Georgetown where venison and pinot noir were to be had and I was falling head over heels for her with every step we took back to her car. (more…)

Happy Birthday Arsenio Jenkins

Filed under: Community, Good Conversation - The Hostess

Ed. Note: In the comments we have discussed the ‘whys’. but if those are the reason people wind up in the system, what can we (individuals, communites, gov’t) do to interrupt the ‘whys’ leading to the not so positive results?
I’m willing to bet there are some little boys in high school named Arsenio. I bet you there are! Remember how he user to put his freakishly long finger to his head and say, “Humh?” Well I have a Humh moment today. Yes, I know I promised myself and all things good and honest that I would not even bother listening to the radio anymore on my way to and from work. But I got caught up y’all. But since I know I have intelligent readers, I’m going to see if we can solve one of the societal problems bringing down America. M’kay. (more…)

Brand Management

Filed under: Good Conversation - The Hostess

First, I just have to call Nikilovli out because she was supposed to guest blog on this topic. But see, she flaked. So here goes my take.

I don’t pay much attention to forwarded emails. In fact, I hate them and if you send them to me and they aren’t true AND funny, I will hunt you down, skin you alive, and make your mother watch! M’kay. Apparently, there’s an email going around calling for a boycott of Arizon Southern Style Sweet Tea because the picture on the container is, as the alleged author put it:

‘Arizona ‘ has a flavor known as ‘Southern Style Sweet Tea’ but if you
Look closely on the front of the can their is a picture of a Plantation !

Yes I said a Plantation , with a white couple on the porch and a Black
woman Dress like Aunt Jamama walking away from the house.
